Resumo: Romper com o modelo de ensino-aprendizagem praticado anteriormente à presença de tecnologia digital em nossa sociedade envolve mudar a postura passiva dos alunos numa sala de aula onde repetem no papel com o lápis e borracha, o que o professor escreve com giz no quadro negro. Este artigo relata e discute uma experiência inicial com o uso do laptop XO dentro e fora da sala de aula por alunos em processo de alfabetização de uma escola pública de Ensino Fundamental de Campinas, SP. Os resultados deste estudo demonstram como o uso de tecnologia digital na Educação pode promover, de fato, a alfabetização de crianças de forma lúdica e em sintonia com as mudanças do novo século.
Abstract: Breaking up with the model of teaching-learning previous to the presence of digital technology in society involves taking away the passive role of the students, in a classroom where they repeat with pencils on the paper what the teacher writes with chalk on the blackboard. This paper reports and discusses the use of the XO laptop inside and outside the classroom for literacy students in a public elementary school in Campinas (State of São Paulo, Brazil). The results of this study demonstrate how the use of technology in Education could contribute to children’s literacy through amusement and in tune with the changes of the new century.
