Abstract: This paper presents an investigation about the influence of different categories of conceptual fields theory in the strategies used by students in an Educational Support Class (CAP) for solving mathematical problems involving the game of marbles. Using Piaget's clinical method the students were analyzed while performing calculations in their matches about the results of games. Two different contexts of games were explored: real marbles and virtual marbles game, using the software Play Marbles. The results indicate various types of strategies have emerged. Among them the most commonly used were mental calculation and memorization.
