Abstract: New concepts and software tools for supporting the acquisition of tactical skills in heuristic games are described, along with their application to the teaching of Chess in schools. Few past works have been found in the scientific literature about authoring tools and discovery learning in collaborative environments aimed at skill acquisition. The formal authoring of heuristic features of Chess is presented as a key element that underlie performance evaluation and the incremental improvement of tactical schemata. Mathematical and statistical methods are applied, such as Kendall's correlation. The adequacy of the model is suggested through the reputable idea of multiple external representations of the tactical schemata. Finally, future research perspectives are discussed.
