Resumo: Apesar do amplo debate a respeito do uso das TIC´s na educação, muitos projetos na área não têm alcançado o sucesso esperado, e dentre os aspectos que representam dificuldades destacam-se questões de formação docente e de infra-estrutura das escolas. Este artigo apresenta uma pesquisa realizada no município de São João da Ponta, um dos cinco escolhidos no país para implantação do projeto UCA total, focando as condições relativas à formação docente e infra-estrutura nas escolas, e comparando essas condições com a realidade de outra região do país. No estudo identificam-se significativas assimetrias entre a situação do município paraense e a de um dos pilotos do projeto UCA em andamento na Região Sudeste.
Abstract: Despite the extensive debate about the use of ITCs in education, many projects in the area have not achieved the expected success and the features that represent difficulties include teacher training and infrastructure of schools. This article presents a survey in São João da Ponta, one of five in the country chosen for implementation of the UCA Total project, focusing on the conditions for teacher training and infrastructure in schools to receive the project, comparing those conditions with reality of another region of the country. The study identifies significant disparities between the situation of the city in Pará and pilot project UCA ongoing in Brazil.
