Resumo

Brazilian literacy problems have been a major concern for education professionals and researchers, as reading comprehension deficits are also negatively affecting disadvantaged children's general school achievement. The purpose of this research was to propose a mobile game, namely Syllabic Keyboard, to work on reading related variables, and test it in the context of an experiment with disadvantaged children. Results from experimental data analysis showed positive effects from gameplay on reading motivation, taste for reading and playing experience.
