Sign WebEDIT: uma oportunidade para a criação coletiva de textos escritos em Língua de Sinais

Resumo: A Web possibilita acessar informações e serviços distribuídos pelo mundo e que estão ao alcance de, praticamente, todas as pessoas que têm acesso ao computador e à Internet. Porém, o que se pode observar é que este processo não está sendo aproveitado por pessoas surdas, principalmente, porque elas ainda têm dificuldades em compreender a língua oral escrita; como também a maioria dos ouvintes não conhece a língua de sinais e a cultura surda. Este trabalho apresenta o sistema SignWebEDIT, um editor de textos online desenvolvido para permitir a construção colaborativa de textos escritos na língua oral e na língua de sinais.

Abstract: The Web makes possible to access information and services distributed around the world. However it can be observed that this is not being fully available to deaf people. Mainly because they have difficulties in understanding the written verbal language, as well the majority of the listeners does not know the sign language and the deaf culture. This work presents the SignWebEDIT system, an online text editor that supports the colaborative writing of texts at distance. These texts can be written in the verbal language and in the sign language.
