Abstract: This paper describes a Project-Based Learning – PBL methodology, and relates its application on teaching Real Time Embedded Systems courses to electronics and computing engineering students for graduate and undergraduate levels at the Brazilian Aeronautics Institute of Techonology nd(Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica - ITA) during the 2 semester of 2005. It tackles the development of a prototype comprised of the following three software configuration items: an Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – UAVs; a Ground Station – GS; and a Student Satellite – SSAT. The VANT-EC-SAT prototype has provided the students with enough experience to understand the main concepts and principles, applying them to a reported case study.
