Pocket: Um ambiente de ensino à distância usando handhelds na formação de comunidades virtuais espontâneas

Resumo: Um grande problema da utilização do Ensino à Distância (EAD) é o alto custo da estruturação, falta de interatividade e baixa permanência do usuário na comunidade virtual. Para resolver esta situação surge a necessidade da utilização de soluções mais acessíveis e com uma proposta de criação de comunidades virtuais mais próximas da realidade social. Neste intuito, apresentamos uma nova proposta de ambiente de EAD, o qual utiliza dispositivos móveis handhelds como interface de acesso. Chamado de Pocket, este ambiente é formado a partir de estruturas em Web Services, as quais são responsáveis pela interoperabilidade e interação entre diferentes serviços e recursos. O protótipo deste ambiente apresenta um novo paradigma de formação de comunidades virtuais dentro de uma abordagem natural, e surge como uma alternativa, a custos acessíveis, a instituições que aspiram à constituição de um ambiente de ensino a distância dentro de comunidades carentes.
Abstract: A considerable problem on the use of distance learning is the high cost for organization, absence of interactivity and low user permanence in the virtual community. For solving this problem, it is emerging the need for using more accessible solutions and with a creational proposal for virtual communities closest to the social reality. With this aim, we present a new proposition of distance learning environment, which uses handhelds mobile devices as an access interface. This environment is called Pocket and it is constituted with base on Web Services technologies, which are responsible for interoperability and interaction between different resources and services. The environment prototype presents a new constitution paradigm for virtual communities inside a natural approach, and it comes as an alternative, with accessible costs, to institutions that aspire to constitute a distance learning environment inside poor communities.
